Rapid Results

We identify what is actually holding the performance back.

Rapid progress does not come from throwing more exercises at a performer. It comes from accurate diagnosis, a clear priority, and tools that create an audible or visible change you can repeat on your own.

1. Diagnose

We separate the central issue from the symptoms—whether it is breath coordination, registration, pitch, tension, unclear intention, unfocused storytelling, or audition strategy.

2. Simplify

You receive a manageable adjustment that can change the work now, not a mountain of abstract information you may understand six months from now.

3. Integrate

Technique is immediately connected to the lyric, text, character, music, audience, and circumstances so the improvement survives outside the exercise.

4. Repeat

We define what success feels and sounds like, then give you a process for recreating it independently in rehearsal, auditions, and performance.

About David

A coach who understands the full theatrical picture.

David Jayden Anthony is a musical theatre writer, director, educator, pianist, arranger, and voice and acting coach. His perspective has been shaped by more than two decades of theatrical work, Berklee training, graduate study, and years spent helping performers connect vocal technique with truthful storytelling.

Because he works across music, text, performance, direction, and technology, a session can address more than a single symptom. The goal is not to make every artist work the same way. It is to find the combination of technique, imagination, analysis, and communication that unlocks the person in front of him.

Frequently Asked Questions

Questions before your first session.

Where are in-person voice and acting lessons offered?

In-person coaching is offered in Long Beach, California. The new student interest form is the best way to ask about current availability, location details, scheduling, and the type of session that fits your goals.

Do you coach students outside Long Beach?

Yes. Online coaching is available to singers and actors beyond Long Beach and throughout the United States and internationally where scheduling allows. It offers flexible time slots, no commute, and the same individualized focus.

What is video performance review coaching?

You submit a video of a song, monologue, self-tape, audition cut, rehearsal, or performance. David studies the work and provides extensive, specific feedback—often organized around moments in the recording—so you can apply the notes on your own schedule and revisit them while practicing.

Can you help with OCSA or other performing arts high school auditions?

Yes. Coaching can address material selection, singing and acting fundamentals, audition cuts, confidence, presentation, interviews, and the specific challenge of communicating authentically at a young age. Admission decisions always belong to the school; coaching is designed to help the student present prepared, truthful work.

Do you prepare students for college musical theatre and acting auditions?

Yes. College audition coaching may include prescreens, song and monologue selection, acting through song, self-tapes, slates, interviews, audition cuts, and planning. Beginning early allows time to build technique and select material rather than simply polishing at the last minute.

Do you work with professional and community theatre performers?

Yes. Students range from beginners learning to match pitch to working professionals preparing auditions and performances. Coaching is adjusted to the experience, material, deadline, and professional goals of the individual performer.

Is this voice coaching, acting coaching, or musical theatre coaching?

It can be any of the three—and often all three. Musical theatre requires vocal coordination, musical understanding, text analysis, acting, and communication to work together. Commercial singers and actors who do not sing are also welcome; the session follows the performer’s needs.

What does “rapid results” mean?

It means identifying the highest-impact issue, choosing a practical adjustment, testing whether it works, and helping you repeat the improvement independently. It does not mean promising identical timelines or bypassing the consistent work required for lasting technique.

What should I bring to a first coaching session?

Bring your goals, material if you have it, accompaniment or tracks when relevant, and any audition requirements or deadlines. If you are unsure what to prepare, explain that in the interest form and David can suggest a useful starting point.

How do I know which coaching format to choose?

Choose in-person coaching if you value being in the room together, online coaching if flexibility and avoiding the commute matter most, and video review if you want extensive written or recorded feedback you can study asynchronously. If you are uncertain, describe your goal in the form and David will recommend a format.
